A word of explanation:
Lisa Blackstone is a pseudonym I use for my Romance/Western novels that feature women as protagonists. It’s controversial, I suppose, and yet art often strives to reach outside convention in order to create something new. I have found that pseudonyms allow me to leave behind the rules and standards set by my previous writings, and at the same time, frees me from the expectations of my audience who only know me by what has come before. That little wedge of freedom that comes from simply changing my name provides a separate universe with as yet unestablished norms in which to create.
The Hunger Series by Lisa Blackstone
Hungry in Texas
“Funny how it takes leaving to see with clear eyes.”
Imagine a girl stuck in a dysfunctional relationship. Imagine Texas, the Colorado River, and one morning when the boyfriend is off at a Hot Rod Convention in Dallas with his paramour, she up and leaves town in her pickup truck with her just the clothes on her back.
Now picture in West Texas, a small farm in the middle of nowhere that she inherited in a surprise move from a distant relative - a town with a lonesome café and some wild and crazy local characters she makes into friends.
There will be tensions as a land-grabber tries to take over her farm, tensions as the local hunk rescues her from a dangerous flood, but, as there should be in a good story, there will be tests of her courage and inventiveness; there will be helpers and villains along the way and, of course, there will be red-hot cowboy love scenes.
Hungry Sparrow

That’s exactly what Barbara-Jean did.
